My Priorities for Orange County

IMG_6944.jpeg

As County Commissioner, I will:

  • Expand wraparound services including mental-health counseling, addiction treatment, employment placement, and family stabilization programs.

  • Support transitional and permanent supportive housing, ensuring individuals can move from crisis to stability with dignity.

  • Partner with nonprofit organizations that provide homelessness outreach, shelter programs, and service coordination.

  • Strengthen programs for at-risk youth and seniors, especially those aging out of foster care or at risk of eviction.

  • Enhance coordination between county agencies, law enforcement, hospitals, and community groups to reduce duplication and ensure people get help quickly.

My approach is grounded in the belief that homelessness is best addressed by prevention, compassion, and long-term stability, not temporary fixes.

Homelessness: Addressing Root Causes With Compassion and Real Solutions

Attainable Housing: Building a Community Where People Can Live and Thrive

As County Commissioner, I will:

  • Expand mixed-income and workforce housing near job centers, transit corridors, and high-opportunity neighborhoods.

  • Support incentives for affordable housing development, including density bonuses, gap-financing tools, and public-private partnerships.

  • Increase access to rental assistance and eviction-prevention programs, keeping families housed and preventing homelessness before it starts.

  • Protect seniors aging on fixed incomes by promoting housing that is accessible, safe, and affordable.

  • Preserve existing affordable units, ensuring new development does not push out longtime residents.

  • Strengthen land-use strategies that balance responsible development with environmental protection – a core value of my record.

My vision is clear: safe, affordable homes in healthy neighborhoods for every resident of Orange County.

Public Safety: Smart, Effective, and Community-Centered

As County Commissioner, I will:

  • Support fully resourced law enforcement agencies and first responders while promoting transparency and building community trust.

  • Enhance school safety with stronger alert systems, improved communication tools, and safer learning environments.

  • Prioritize the prevention of violent crime, including human trafficking, hazing, and offenses against vulnerable populations.

  • Expand mental-health response partnerships to give officers the support they need and ensure individuals receive appropriate care.

  • Strengthen gun-safety education and responsible storage initiatives to protect children and reduce accidental injuries.

  • Improve emergency preparedness for neighborhoods, parks, and public spaces.

I believe public safety is not just about responding to crime – it’s about preventing harm, supporting families, and making sure every resident feels safe in their home and community.

As Commissioner, I will:

  • Invest in multimodal transportation, including pedestrian paths, bike lanes, shared-use trails, and safer streets for all residents.

  • Advance public transit improvements, expanding the frequency, reliability, and coverage of bus and rail systems.

  • Support smart-growth development that reduces traffic congestion by aligning housing, jobs, and transit options.

  • Strengthen road and infrastructure maintenance, ensuring communities have safe, well-maintained streets.

  • Expand transportation options for seniors and people with disabilities, improving independence and access to essential services.

  • Promote environmental sustainability by integrating green infrastructure, reducing pollution, and supporting clean-transportation technologies.

My transportation priorities focus on mobility, safety, and long-term planning, ensuring Orange County grows responsibly while protecting the environment and enhancing the daily lives of residents.
